Top Ten Tuesday was created by Jamie over at The Broke & the Bookish. Who doesn't love a good list? Today's topic is top ten bookish resolutions.
I've never really made bookish goals in the past. Sure, I pretty much always want to read more books, but I've never written them down and made them concrete. This year will be my first, and hopefully it won't be a big fat failure!
1.) Read 50 books. I completed HarperCollins 50 book pledge in 2013, and I want to definitely complete it again this year. 50 books is a good number for me. I wish I could read more, but with a full work schedule, and a wedding in 6 months (!!!), I don't think I can commit to any more than that.
2.) Read more of the books on my shelves. It's so easy to go to the library, or download a book to my Kobo. So easy that I've been neglecting the books that are on my shelves, and they look lonely! I read a lot of physical books last year, but many of those were books I won or got from the library.
3.) This pains me to even type, but get rid of some of my books. We live in a very, very tiny apartment, and I really don't need all the books I have. Some of them I have no intention of reading ever again for various reasons, and they could be living happily somewhere else.
4.) Do better with this blog. I started it last year, and it didn't exactly take off like I'd planned. I need to start scheduling posts and being more organized.
5.) Read some of the books that have been on my to-read shelf for ages. At present, I have over 200 books on my Goodreads want-to-read shelf, and more are added daily. I need/want to tackle some of these books.
6.) Read more non-fiction. I read a few non-fiction books last year, and I always really enjoy them. I love learning, and what better way to learn than through a good book? I really love memoirs & biographies, and suggestions are definitely appreciated here, too.
I think that's about it for my bookish resolutions this year. I think they're fairly straight forward and easy to complete. Though, ask me in July how far along I am and it may be a different story.
Congrats on getting married! I totally understand how that distracts from pretty much everything.
ReplyDeleteGreat list!
Wedding planning really does take over! Thanks for the comment :)
DeleteThis is my first time writing out my bookish goals, too :) I'm hoping to be better about my blog as well. Some months I hardly posted at all. Good luck with your resolutions!
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem with sometimes not posting in a month. We'll both do better this year!
