Wanderlust: Sylvia Beach Hotel

Since this blog has the word wanderlust in its title, and I spend far more time than I care to admit daydreaming about travelling, I thought I'd do a wanderlust post.

I actually stumbled upon this hotel while on Twitter the other day, and instantly fell in love with it. It's a hotel based on BOOKS! What could be better?

This isn't your typical lounge by the massive pool with an umbrella drink (though that is a lovely way to spend an afternoon!). Instead, this hotel has no televisions, phones, or radios in the rooms, and there is no wifi! No wifi may be a deal breaker for some, but I really think it would be so peaceful to spend a few days entirely disconnected.

What they do have are themed rooms, a library/reading room, and spectacular ocean views. Oh, and a kitty that lives there. You had me at kitty. And ocean views.

The rooms come in three different themes: classics, featuring an Agatha Christie, Colette, and Mark Twain room. There's also the best seller rooms featuring themed author rooms, including JK Rowling, Jane Austen, Hemingway, and Amy Tan. Finally, there's the novel rooms which have rooms featuring Tolkien, Gertrude Stein, Jules Verne, and Oscar Wild.

I would love to stay in the JK Rowling room. It's Harry Potter themed, which is about as close to Hogwarts as I'll ever get. So cool.

I would spend all weekend hanging out in the library, getting lost in book after book after book, day dreaming my next adventure, and photographing the hotel and its grounds.

Oh yes, I would be very, very happy here.

Check it out here!
